 Pewee Valley Explorer Program

The Pewee Valley Explorer Post 913 is a career development program, aimed at the fire service, sponsored by the Pewee Valley Fire Protection District. The Post is comprised of adolescents aging between 14 and 17 years old who assist the Fire Department in community service and on the fire scenes.

The Explorer program allows students to gain a better understanding of the Fire Service and its career opportunities and provides valuable support to the Pewee Valley Fire Protection District.

Explorers complete a training program to learn about the Pewee Valley Fire Protection District and to prepare themselves for a career in the Fire Service. weekly meetings attended by the Explorers provide them with instructions in areas such as Fire Safety, Operations and Procedures, and Fire Tactics.

As a reminder, the post has implemented a new grade policy that requires all explorers to have a 2.0 GPA or above.

We have changed our training schedule the first of October, to one Saturday training and three Wednesday night trainings. However, only one Wednesday night training and one Saturday training will be mandatory while the other two will be optional. Saturday training will continue to be from 10a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday night training will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
